Here Comes Mr. Jordan (1941)

Director: Alexander Hall
Starring: Robert Montgomery, Claude Rains, Evelyn Keyes
Synopsis:
A boxer dies before his appointed time and is given the body of a murdered millionaire as compensation.
Impressions:
This almost feels like a supernatural Mr. Deeds Goes to Town. This was one of Robert Montgomery's last movies before he went off to join the Navy and he's not bad as the slightly dim-witted but big-hearted motormouth boxer. I liked Claude Rains as the aloof Mr. Jordan who goes through the sort of bemusement you'd expect from a celestial being. I also want to give a nod to James Gleason for being a good comedic foil for Montgomery (and later the inspector at the inquest). Some people may bristle at the deterministic system the in-movie universe operates by, but it's an enjoyable enough romp. Give it a watch.
