High Sierra (1941)

Director: Raoul Walsh
Starring: Ida Lupino, Humphrey Bogart, Alan Curtis

Synopsis:
A bank robber's release from prison is arranged so he can do another job, but things go awry along the way.

Impressions:
This is a pretty good story of a criminal dogged by his better nature and the problems that arise from it. Roy Earle is a fairly interesting character, a hard-bitten criminal on the one hand but also prone to fits of altruism. The setup for the job is okay, but it's when things fall apart afterward that the movie shows its chops. I wouldn't call it a great film, but it is a good one and worth a watch.
