I Was a Male War Bride (1949)

Director: Howard Hawks
Starring: Cary Grant, Ann Sheridan, Marion Marshall
Synopsis:
A French officer and his American counterpart fall in love and get married, but when the American forces are recalled to the States, a bureaucratic snarl complicates matters.
Impressions:
This is a great movie. There were a lot of mil-coms that came out after WWII and this is one of the best ones. It's very sharply written and well-acted. Cary Grant and Ann Sheridan make a great onscreen couple. Sheridan is sharp as a tack and Grant is at the top of his comedic game. Also, there's Eleanor Audley in a small role, which is cool. If you're in any way familiar with government bureaucratic tangles or military bureaucratic tangles in particular, you'll get an especial kick out of the source of the primary conflict. It's great fun and I not only recommend you see it but also that you add it to your collection. A must for Cary Grant fans.
