Ice Station Zebra (1968)

Ice Station Zebra (1968)

Director: John Sturges
Starring: Rock Hudson, Ernest Borgnine, Patrick McGoohan

Synopsis:
A US submarine is dispatched on a rescue mission to a British arctic outpost in distress.

Impressions:
I wasn't expecting this movie to be in epic format, but it's a pretty big film. This is a rather good Cold War thriller which not only has the external conflict of the West versus the Soviets but also the added wrinkle of a mole on the submarine. It's fairly rewarding watching the mysteries unravel as you get to the heart of the mission and discover who's trying to derail it. Among the standouts in the cast are Patrick McGoohan, Ernest Borgnine, and Jim Brown. I definitely recommend giving this one a watch.
