Zenshu (2025)
[全修。]

Director: Mitsue Yamazaki
Studio: MAPPA
Starring: Anna Nagase, Kazuki Ura, Rie Kugimiya
Episodes: 12
Synopsis:
An eccentric animator dies of food poisoning and finds herself reincarnated in the world of her favorite anime, the dark fantasy A Tale of Perishing.
Impressions:
The fact that this was produced by MAPPA probably would've been enough for me to check it out, but what really lured me in was the conceit of an isekai where an animator uses the power of animation as her primary weapon. I do love series that are a love letter to the art of animation and there are a lot of homages to major pieces of animation history that are really fun. The core story is interesting in its own right, but its all the little touches that raise this above the herd. The cast is very enjoyable to watch and Natsuko's character arc is rewarding to watch unfold. Given the nature of this series, it's little surprise that the studio pulls out all the stops to bring us a beautiful piece of work. There's a lot to love here and it definitely warrants a place in your collection.
