Yotsuba&! - Volume 14 (2018)

Author/Artist: Kiyohiko Azuma
Publisher: Dengeki Comics

Synopsis:
Yotsuba and her father go on a trip to Tokyo.

Story/Characters:
The centerpiece of this volume, the Tokyo episode, has a lot of resonance if you weren't raised in a big city but then go to visit one as a kid. It's also significant for the introduction of Koiwai's sister Koharuko. I like how she's fairly serious and deadpan but can also mess around a bit (while maintaining her deadpan). You can see some resemblance between her and Grandma, unsurprising as they're mother and daughter. Besides the Tokyo episode, I rather liked the yoga lesson. There's also some fun in the grocery store before the Tokyo trip.

Art:
What can I say about the art that I haven't said already? It's as good and appealing as ever. There is a great visual gag at the grocery store where Yotsuba is getting at Yanda. It may well be one of the best in the series. There's also some good stuff with the aliens in Tokyo (you'll see).

Conclusion:
I sound like a broken record, but the charm of this series can't be understated. It's been a long time since the last volume, but Azuma can afford to take his time and release new chapters as they come to him and I'm okay with that. Like every volume before it, this one belongs in your collection.
