The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess - Volume 4 (2018)

Author/Artist: Akira Himekawa
Publisher: Tentomushi Comics

Synopsis:
Link travels to Death Mountain in search of the next Fused Shadow fragment.

Story/Characters:
One thing that stands out to me about this volume is the deeper characterization that we're getting here. Minor characters like Ruda and Shad play a much larger role and I'm particularly happy to see more establishment for Telma. We also get a little more of Midna's backstory which appears to help explain what I thought was the implausible setup with Zant as an actually viable candidate for rulership. It would seem that he was a little more lucid in the past. Although we have big fights in Death Mountain and Lake Hylia, I honestly think the escort mission to Kakariko Village is the sequence with the most punch. Ilia continues to be handled well. I've mentioned before that I really didn't like her much in the original game, but she comes off as far more appealing here, so props to Himekawa for pulling that off. Lastly, we close on an excellent cliffhanger.

Art:
The art quality continues to satisfy. You may feel the boss fights are a bit rushed, but we get some nice action shots. As I said above, the escort mission to Karariko is probably the best part.

Conclusion:
All the best aspects of this adaptation are on display in this volume. The dungeons are given short treatment, but in place of that we get a lot of characterization, which I think any fan of the original game will welcome with open arms. If you're a fan, you'll want to get this.
