Welcome to Japan, Ms. Elf! (2025)

Director: Toru Kitahata
Studio: Zero-G
Starring: Yusuke Kobayashi, Kaede Hondo, Yumi Uchiyama
Episodes: 12

Synopsis:
A Japanese businessman who has travelled to another world in his dreams ever since he was a child unwittingly brings his Elf companion back with him one day.

Impressions:
The premise was enough to draw my interest and it takes some work to get me to turn down a cute Elf waifu. The mechanic of using sleep as the means of travelling between worlds is fairly neat, but to be honest, the story in the other world isn't terribly interesting, mostly just boilerplate isekai fantasy (though slightly less of the typical puerile power fantasy). The only real benefit of continuing to follow the events on the other side is the inclusion of Wridra, who helps goad Kazuhiro and Marie along a bit lest their relationship remain static. The real heart of the story is Marie experiencing Japanese culture. Despite some attempts to build tension in the other world adventure side of the story, this is fairly lightweight for drama and mild with its comedy. It shines when it's making the most of the slice-of-life aspect. If that sounds like fun for you, then you may find this well enough worth a watch. The duet ED is pretty cute, I must say, so that's something.
